Weekly Wrap – Reconciliation Week at Brighton – Be Brave, Make Change

Dear Families,

National Reconciliation Week provides an opportunity for all of us to learn more about our shared histories, cultures, achievements and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving Reconciliation in Australia. This years theme Be Brave, Make Change, challenges all of us to make change beginning with brave actions in our daily life.

Brighton celebrated National Reconciliation Week with a whole school assembly and children learnt more about First Nation culture and history through art, stories, music and research. We are supporting reconciliation by committing to our reconciliation action plan and our student executive have made four pledges of actions that they will take to make change including establishing a bush tucker garden and creating a school acknowledgment of country video.  From little things, big things grow! Together we can be brave and make change. A big shout to Vanessa and the First Nations committee for organising National Reconciliation Week events.

Camps are back on…. next week our year 5s are off to Illawonga for a two night three day camp.

Enjoy the weekend.

Warm Regards Rebecca
