With a visit to Melba’s Chocolate Factory the 4 year 1 classes launched their problem based learning investigation. Tom from Melba’s shared a problem he is having with the packaging for the Turkish Delight. The students will redesign the plastic box to be environmentally friendly, economical and require less time for assembly. They have a challenging task ahead.
The year 4 students heard from CSIRO scientist, Damien, who shared his work in researching alternative sources of protein for human consumption to combat the increasing population and limited area for farming. The students have an interesting research project to some up with affordable, tasty and healthy foods which encompass these alternative sources of protein. Best of luck changing people’s minds about eating some of these. I feel a persuasive text might be written!
