Isla C. receives 2nd place in Oliphant Science Awards

The South Australian Science Teachers Association (SASTA) held their annual presentations of the Oliphant Science Awards on Friday 13th November at Brighton Performing Arts Centre.

Isla C. from 4.4 was invited to attend to see what prize she had won for her entry, not knowing if she would receive 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. The category Isla entered was Games and her entry, called Frog Frenzy, was eventually awarded 2nd place, out of hundreds of entries. What makes this achievement even more special is that Isla was erroneously entered into a higher age group of year 5 and 6 students, which she still outperformed.

Isla’s game is an example of what you can achieve with hard work and effort. Congratulations Isla!

This year we had 83 overall projects submitted in the awards with over 143 students involved which is a fantastic achievement for the school, considering we have only been entering the competition for the last 3 years. Certificates for all entrants will be handed out shortly. Hopefully we can repeat our numbers next year in addition to achieving success.
