The theme for this year’s NAIDOC week is “Always Was, Always Will Be.” As part of NAIDOC Week, Indigenous students from Brighton Primary School spent the day at Paringa Park Primary School. Throughout the day we learnt about various aspects of Indigenous Culture, including Language, History and Art. Local Aboriginal Community members shared their knowledge and expertise with us. Our students participated in a range of activities, including Ochre Painting, Dreaming Stories, traditional weaving and beading. Another important focus area for the day was learning about preserving and reviving Indigenous language. This information was presented by a linguist from the Kaurna Language Unit at the University of Adelaide.
