Weekly Wrap Up – Canberra Camp

Dear Families,

The Canberra Camp is always a highlight for Year 6s and this year was no different. Seventy three students and 8 teachers embarked on a four day interstate camp with every second spent experiencing our nation’s capital. The camp began in Sydney where the Harbour Bridge and Opera House were central to our views from The Rocks. The camp was full of experiences that help to define our nation’s capital. The places visited included Parliament House, old and new, the National Museum, the Royal Australian Mint, CSIRO Discovery Centre and  the Australian War Memorial, to name a few. The trip also developed our knowledge in our democratic system of government by visiting and involving ourselves in role play at the Museum of Australian Democracy and the Electoral Education Centre.  Apart from the locations there is also learning about being independent, how to ask and answer questions in public and how to work as a team. We  hope we can offer this experience again in 2025!  A big shout out to Lisa, AJ, Andy, Mandy, Oksana, Nadine, Catharine and Karen for taking time away from their families to provide this wonderful opportunity for the year 6 community.

Enjoy the weekend.

Warm Regards, Rebecca
