Weekly Wrap Up -Pancakes and Parliament House

Dear Families,

Often known as Pancake Day, Shrove Tuesday is a feast before a period of fasting during the Christian season of Lent, the 40-day period before Easter Sunday. Thank you to Sarah Notridge and her team of volunteers from St Judes Church who cooked hundreds of  pancakes on Tuesday for the annual pancake breakfast. The event had a positive vibe and many members of our community not only loved the pancakes but they also enjoyed the opportunity to connect with each other.

At Brighton, we pride ourselves on providing high quality learning experiences both at school and beyond the school gates. This week the students in LA6 went on the first excursion for 2024 to Parliament House to deepen their understanding of the role of parliament and encourage active citizenship.  A highlight of the excursion was seeing how democratic decisions are made in parliament both the House of Assembly and Legislative Council. Thank you to Sarah Andrews for the information tour of Parliament House.

I look forward to seeing you at the Learning Hub Breakfasts next week.

Enjoy the weekend.

Warm Regards, Rebecca
