Weekly Wrap Up- Passion for STEM

Dear Families,

Our school partners with industry experts to ignite a passion for STEM in our students. Through this innovative partnership our students get to learn alongside industry professionals and participate in real world problem solving opportunities. Industry professionals inspire and motivate our students, showcasing the endless possibilities in STEM careers.

A highlight so far this term has been the presentation of caravan designs by 4.7 and 4.8 to the Caravan and Camping Association board representatives. Each group of students clearly articulated their decisions in design to meet the agreed design criteria. These group of students spoke confidently, answered questions with the inclusion of background knowledge and used technical vocabulary.

Our other STEM Projects that will come to a productive completion this term are:

· the  Development of the Butterfly Garden by students in 3.5, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5

·  a project on developing sensory enrichment toys for the tiger cubs in the Adelaide Zoo by students in 2.11, 2.10 and 2.9

·a  project with SA Water to develop sustainable approaches to the Happy Valley Reservoir by students in 2.5, 2.7 and 2.8

· outside sand pit area redevelopment by our littlest learners in LA3

· development of nest boxes for the school grounds by students in 4.7 and 4.8

All of these projects engage students to become problem solvers and developers of designs to improve the environmental areas in our local community. The actions and designs support our student community to become more responsible citizens and demonstrate the ways that they can have impact on their environment.

A reminder next Friday we will be celebrating a year of successful learning in The Arts. Hope to see you at the assembly at 9:15am on the courts.

Enjoy the weekend.

Warm Regards, Rebecca
