Weekly Wrap Up: BPS celebrates Book and Writers Week

Dear Families,

“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book!” – Dr Suess

Our school was awash with colour and excitement yesterday for the annual Book Week and Writer’s Week Assembly. Read, Grow, Inspire is  the 2023 Book Week theme and the school yard was taken over by every book character imaginable. The creativity, colour and participation this year was outstanding.  Book Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy books bring us and the importance of reading. For the children, it is a fun way to form a deeper connection with the stories they love.

Writer’s Week is a special time at Brighton. Our children are authors and Writer’s Week provides children with an opportunity to write, illustrate and publish their own book. The quality of the books this year was outstanding and teachers had a difficult job choosing the short listed books. Congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted or awarded a Growth as a Writer Award. The shortlisted books are on display in the library, I encourage you to pop in and have a read.

A big shout out to Mandy and all our wonderful educators for their tireless work to bring the magic of books to life.  Thank you to the school community for supporting this wonderful event.

To all the Dads, Grandpas and special people, we hope you enjoy some quality family time on Sunday.

Enjoy the weekend.

Warm Regards, Rebecca
