Dear families,
My name is Marisa Wilson and I this year I have undertaken the role of the Autism Inclusion Teacher. I perform this role for one day a week and teach in a year four class for the rest of the week.
The role of the Autism Inclusion Teacher is to:
- build their own teaching expertise
- influence the practice of others.
They will do this by:
- building their own practice in teaching autistic children through formal and informal professional learning
- participating in an ongoing collaborative Autism Network
- sharing and demonstrating evidence-based practices on how to best support and educate autistic students
- improving school support for autistic children and young people that works for their school.
During Term 2, Autism Teachers across South Australia will be collecting and analysing site data. We are seeking family input to develop an understanding of what is working well for autistic students here at Brighton Primary School and what might be improved. Please complete the survey if your child has a diagnosis of Autism.
Thank you,
Marisa Wilson
