Weekly Wrap Up

Dear Families,

In year 6, learners have the opportunity to take a deeper dive into learning by exploring a number of important sites in our National Capital and Sydney. The five day camp was full of different adventures and new learning experiences. The children participated in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.  A highlight of the week was our visit to Parliament House where students experienced how Parliament works to make Australia a better place to live. Other  sites visited included The Rocks, Sydney Opera House, The National Gallery of Australia, The Electoral Education Centre (Old Parliament House), Parliament House and the  Australian War Memorial. Students engaged in hands on learning activities at the CSIRO, The Australian Institute of Sport and Questacon. The year 6 community created some wonderful memories during our time away in Sydney and Canberra.

We are  very proud to offer these opportunities for the children, which without the support of our staff and community, would not be possible. As you would appreciate taking 88 children interstate for five days is a huge responsibility and takes a lot of organisation. I would like to say a big thank you Candice, Matt, Mo, Diane, Mandy, Kim, Karen and Catharine who generously donated their time to make this experience possible.

It’s been another great week of learning at Brighton. Our year one children enjoyed a day of learning at the Adelaide Zoo exploring living things and what they need. A highlight was the Zoo Educators showing us a skink and recreating its habitat in the zoo classroom.

Enjoy some quality time with your family this long weekend.

Warm Regards, Rebecca

  1. I also would like to immensely thank all teachers and staff of BPS for organising this trip and taking care of our little ones for the days in Sydney and Canberra. You rock!
