Brighton Primary said goodbye to their principal on Friday. Starting with an assembly to acknowledge the significant contribution that Mr. Filer had made to the school. Mr. Filer’s family, friends, governing council, teachers, SSOs and students listened to the choir and speeches made to thank Mr. Filer and wish him well. The students sent him on his way with the customary graduation arch where he snaked his way below the arms of the 700 odd students at Brighton.
Poem – Farewell to Mr Filer
Everyone rushes to say “hi” to Fly
He’s the well dressed guy in the suit and the tie
but there is so much more than meets the eye
The second you step into the yard
I see you form that smile from a mile
You stand with a promise
to keep us honest
The moment someone falls to their knees
You rush to be their noble steed
We’re all so grateful for what you have done
New experiences, opportunities, and a whole heap of fun
Thank you for the wisdom you portray
We won’t forget it any day
We listen to the words you say
As the message you give away, makes our day
You are the leader that we need
I think we all agree
The community that you lead
Hates to see you leave
Buzz Light-Year would be proud
As you resemble him aloud
Even though this is our last goodbye
We hope to see you again, and that beaming smile
Thank you Mr. Filer. We will miss you.
