COVID-19 Update number 6

Brighton Primary School remains open following the advice of our Prime Minister, the Premier and the Department for Education. However, each have stated that it is up to parents to decide if they send their children to school. This certainly applies at Brighton Primary-it is your decision.

Brighton Primary School would close under 2 scenarios. First of all, we would close if there was a confirmed case of COVID 19 on site. If it was necessary for our school to close due to a case of COVID 19, I would notify parents via a text message, with further details provided on our Blog and through Seesaw. If we were to close, it would be immediate-that is parents will be asked to pick up their child/children from school immediately. The second scenario would be a state wide closure, which at this stage has not been suggested. If this does take place notification would obviously be broadcast over all media outlets. I would of course, also notify parents.

At this stage staff are not providing ‘take home’ study options for students, as their role is to teach the students attending school. However, if there was a state wide closure, DfE would provide advice regarding what ‘take home, on line’ learning would look like and we would follow this advice.

If as a parent, you chose to keep your child/children at home, the best way to notify the school is by text   0476 857 212. Please indicate the length of absence to avoid the need to text regularly. That is, if you are keeping your child home, until further notice, please indicate this in your text.

I think as a school community we are managing this challenge to the best of our ability. One very important factor is keeping parents informed. I hope my Blog posts are doing exactly that.
