WELCOME TO THE 2020 SCHOOL YEAR

Welcome to students, staff and parents to the 2020 school year. Special welcome to our 92 new Foundation/Reception students who will begin their schooling at Brighton Primary School tomorrow. We also welcome a number of year 1 through year 7 enrolments and a  range of new staff to our school. We welcome Christie Evans, recently appointed as Assistant Principal, STEM/Numeracy; Penny Biar, year 5 teacher (4.6) ; Mel Phillips (0.8) and Steph Dawson(0.2) who will be sharing the Performing Arts role in 2.11 and to Kim Green who will be teaching year 2 students in our library classroom (newly constructed during the school holidays). Kim Lauwrens, newly appointed as Personal Assistant to the Principal, is on long service leave (granted by her previous place of employment) and will begin her appointment in week 5. Special thanks to Tricia Beech who has moved into Kim’s role, Monday through Friday  and to Carolyn Morgan who will assist in the Front Office each Friday.  Welcome back also  to Courtney Elliott (0.4, room 4.2) and Kehren Klovicko (0.6, room 2.10) who are returning to us following maternity leave.

We will welcome all students and new staff at our first assembly of the school year, to be held on the netball courts at 10.20am Tuesday morning.

On Thursday evening, our Facilities Committee of Governing Council, leadership staff and staff members of the ‘New Build’ committee  will meet with Sensum, building contractors, to view the plans for our $5 million redevelopment. This will then be shared with our Governing Council and then the  wider community. Very exciting times indeed.

I look forward to 2020 being a very productive, constructive and enjoyable year for all members of the Brighton Primary School community. Here’s to a fantastic 2020!

Ian
