Pancake Day

This Tuesday the 25th February (Week 5) is Pancake Day.  Also known as Pancake Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday.  These are some of the common names for the day that is celebrated around the world.  It marks the start of Lent which is the period before Easter. Traditionally, pancakes are cooked to use up all the butter, eggs, sugars and fats.  During the Lent period, a fast from these foods is practice in reflection of the coming Easter Festival.

At Brighton Primary School the Breakfast Club will be serving pancakes, following the tradition with jam or maple syrup. This will take place on Tuesday morning from 8:15 – 8.45am.  A gold coin donation would be appreciated to go towards the Breakfast Club program, which is supported by the volunteers from the local churches.

I wish all the students and teaching staff an exciting week in Sydney and Canberra.  Safe travels.
