Weekly Wrap Up- Reconciliation Week

Dear Families,

Reconciliation Week is always a highlight of the school calendar. The week has been filled with meaningful learning, culminating in a whole-school assembly. Despite inclement weather, the assembly brought the community together to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and to honor the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The assembly opened with the audio recording of a beautiful Welcome to Country by Robert Taylor in Kaurna language, followed by an Acknowledgment of Country by the children in 3.3, reminding us of the traditional custodians of the land on which we learn and play. Students from various classes shared their artwork. Our Senior Choir performed “Proud,” and another highlight was the whole school singing “Blackfella/Whitefella,” the National Reconciliation Week song.

Reconciliation Week at Brighton Primary School is more than just a series of events—it’s a commitment to fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusion. We are dedicated to promoting reconciliation in our school and community. We are proud to share our school Welcome and Acknowledgment of Country video.

Enjoy the weekend.

Warm Regards, Rebecca
