You may or may not be aware the we use Sentral Education as our in house LMS (Learner Management System). Until last week the system was run off a managed server physically located in our server room. Sentral as a company are ceasing to support this model, like a lot of software companies, and are moving all schools over to the “Cloud”. We were transitioned to this environment last week with great success.
As part of the process we get the latest version of their software and all of the bells and whistles that come with it. The big change is, now that we are in the “Cloud”, Sentral’s Parent app is able to communicate with our system as well. Very shortly we will begin to release information to you on how you can access this app, connect with BPS in the app and what you will be able to do with it.
In the early stages we will not turn on all its’ features as we learn how to use them ourselves first. Initially you will be able to see basic information that we hold about you and your child(ren), their attendance history and, at the end of the term, for the first time we will release student reports via the app. As Sentral is used nation wide and in different jurisdictions not all features are also usable by SA government Schools. As in introduction, have a look at this video, bearing that in mind.
As the release comes closer we will provide more specific information on how to connect, what exactly you will see and the future of what may come.
