Big Ideas in Number is a structure which focusses on clear foundational understanding in Number. It is broken up into key ‘Big Ideas’ starting with Trust the count.
Our foundation and year 1 students are developing strategies to ‘trust the count’. They start with counting all, then progress to counting on with the goal to be using multiple counting strategies such as doubles and near doubles by the end of term 2 in year 1.
