Lacrosse Carnival 2024
Online permission notes will hopefully come out at the end of this week. The carnival is held at Brighton Lacrosse Club on the 26th of March. Reminder that students need to provide an adult manager for their team. Well done to the 5 teams that have an adult manager who has completed the Brighton Volunteer requirements.
Cross Country trials will be held in week 9 and 10 this term for students born in 2014, 2013 and 2012. 2014 students need to run 2000m in around 10 minutes to qualify. 2013 and 2012 students need to run 3000m in around about 15 minutes to qualify. The event is early term 2, 13th of May.
Term 2 NRL Tackle Rugby Carnivals
Nominations are going around to classes very soon. There will be a year 5/6 Boys and Girls carnival held at Brighton on the 15th of May and a year 3/4 mixed carnival held on May the 29th. Stay tuned.
Term 3 there will be a year 5/6 and year 3/4 Tag Rugby Carnival.
Netball ( South West District) Years 5/6
Trials began last week for the year 6 students. Year 5 students will trial while the year 6’s are on camp. We only take one team to this event. This year it is being held at Stadium SA on Tuesday the 7th of May. School Sport SA have asked schools to nominate a Boys team this year. At this stage we are the only school in our district to nominate. Stay tuned Boys.
South West Boys Football trials- year 5/6
As we no longer have Westminster as our venue, our district have decided that schools are to select between 3-5 students to attend trials. Therefore, we will ask students who believe they are exceptional players to nominate and trial at school. Marek and Jeff will be holding these trials on Friday the 22nd of March-week 8. Generally year 6 students will get priority over year 5. We are still looking at having a boys and girls competition when they can find suitable grounds. The girls competition would be a selection process to make the South West team. The boys would have already gone through the process. The reason they are doing the boys trials with 5 per school is the shortness in the time before the state championships and the lack of playing fields.
South West District Soccer- Year 5/6 Boys and Girls
Trials will be held at school next term and we take one boy and one girl team to this event. We are no longer using the Bowker street grounds and will be playing this competition at West Beach Barrett Reserves on June the 17th.
