Strings Workshop at BSS

We had 8 strings students from Brighton Primary School represent at the Instrumental Music workshop today. What a treat to play together in a beautiful concert hall with 60 other players. The sound was magnificent! We played dynamically, in different time signatures, in different styles, in cannon and with different conductors. Brighton Secondary School’s Simphonia came and played to and with us for our sight reading challenge. It was a real treat to see some alumni from our program 🙂 We finished with a short concert of our pieces to families. We even included our newly learnt sight reading piece!

  1. What a great suggestion Hayley. I will reach out to Instrumental Music to inform us (Rebecca and I) of these events. I was unaware until I chanced upon hearing about it while on a personal trip have a cello lesson at BSS that day of the workshop I think you might be referring to. The Beachfront hub aren’t booked to perform here until term 4.

    1. That’s fab as yes I don’t think many are aware of it other than the student families who attend lessons or the beachfront hub, although I think there are quite a few students from Brighton Primary who go each week. Doing the local school concerts will be a great way to raise awareness for those wanting to learn brass and build the confidence of those who already play. They’ve been great at welcoming Our children into the beachfront hub this year and lovely hearing them progress. The local primary children who attend performed at the Secondary school Brighton Spectacular last night in their concert hall which was amazing to watch. It’s great to see children enjoying musical instruments 🎺 🎻 🎷 🎸 🪘

  2. That’s great! There’s quite a few Brighton Primary students yr4-6 who attend the Brighton Beachfront Band On a weekly basis doing music lessons on brass instruments and being part of the school band they performed a concert at a local school a couple of weeks ago and, heading to Brighton Primary in a few weeks to do a concert with final one being at the concert hall at the secondary school which is a great experience for them as well and great to see their talents being enjoyed! Not sure if this is known about as not seen anything on the weekly newsletter to celebrate their achievements ? 🎺
