Pupil Free Day – Mathematics Training and Development for teachers and class based ancillary staff

Monday’s pupil free day offers teachers and class based ancillary staff the chance to develop their skills in teaching mathematics in the classroom. We will welcome Maureen Hegarty to present this training. She is an outstanding practitioner and currently supports Grange Primary as a Mathematics coach and teaches Mathematics from foundation to year 12. She is also responsible for leading training in ‘Thinking Maths’ and ‘STEM 500 Mathematics,’ both of which a selection of our teachers have been attending.

Her aim will be to show Brighton Primary school teachers and ancillary staff, quality maths teaching with a focus on problem solving and help us develop a whole school approach to Mathematics. She will provide hands on, authentic learning opportunities for teachers and ancillary staff to take back to their classrooms immediately.

This training session will be the stimulus for a  focus on mathematics, to continue to work towards our Site Improvement goals in numeracy.
