After School Sport

Hi Everyone

Thank you to our huge sporting community for understanding and supporting the rapid change and cancellations of school sports in response to COVID in March.  We are slowly working towards the relaunch of some sports, in an environment that may be different from what we are used to.  As we get closer to the time that training and games can be played I will communicate the ways in which we will all need to commit to, in supporting our children in sport, and in our commitment to keeping our wider community safe and healthy.

Please find following a brief run down regarding after school sport.:

General Information:

Registration: If your child has already submitted a sports registration form, I will confirm via email  in the next week.  You can let me know via return email if your child no longer wishes to play.  If your child wishes to sign up, please complete the registration form.  If you would like a paper copy, please pop a comment on this blog, or on the Facebook post, and I will send one to your child via the class office box.  The Winter Sports form handed out in term 1 can be used.

Fees:  The fees quoted on the form may change if the association charges reduce.  For soccer and netball there are only 2-3 games difference, so the fee is likely to stay the same.  Eg: If Volleyball reduces to one term, this reduction will be communicated and invoiced at the lesser amount.  There are extra costs we will need to absorb into our fees including hand sanitiser, disinfectant for balls and resources, etc.  I am hoping the reduction in games, will help cover these extra costs.

COVID-19: Please expect additional guidelines to that will be communicated and will be required to be adhered to.  These may be along the lines of one spectator/child, social distancing, hand washing before and after the game/training, etc.  Please also be aware that any sport season may be shortened and lengthened at the discretion of the Government, School or Sporting association.  All information relating to this will be communicated.

Outdoor Sports:

Netball:  The South West District Netball Association is hoping that games can commence on Wednesday 17th June.  Please complete and return registrations asap, closing date is firmly next Wednesday 20 May.  I will need coaches and team managers for each team, so please volunteer.  For netball information, click here.

Soccer:  The Southern Districts Junior Soccer Association has indicated that there will be a 9 round season commencing week 1, term 3.  If your child is interested, please complete and return the registration form.  For soccer information, click here.

SANFL School Footy:  At this time I have not received an update with a start date.  Since this is an outdoor sport, we best get our teams organised in hope that it can start in May/June. For SANFL School Footy information, click here.

Indoor Sports:

Basketball:  At this time we have no communications as to when/if this season will commence.  If your child is interested, please complete a form in anticipation. For Basketball information, click here.

Volleyball: At this time we have no communications as to when/if this season will commence.  If your child is interested, please complete a form in anticipation. For volleyball information, click here.

I look forward to seeing the reintroduction of sports for your children 🙂

  1. Hi Jan-Marie, I’m not sure if I returned the registration form for Winter Basketball for Miah Jeffrey in 2.10. Could you please send one home with her if she needs to submit the form again. Thank you! Kind Regards,
    Jacqui Mawson
