Caregivers of our year 5/6/7 community,
I’m writing to request you encourage your child to be a part of 2019’s Festival of Music Choir. After discussion with Leadership we are opening up the opportunity to year 5s as well as 6s and 7s. Year 5s will be accepted into the performing choir if they demonstrate mature Senior Choir values, commitment, behaviour and organisational skills.
Our Senior Choir/Festival of Music Choir practices @1:45 Thursdays in the Music Room. The huge event has been running for 128 years and last year alone saw over 6,000 South Australian public schools students on the Festival Theatre stage. It’s an unmissable opportunity to sing with so many voices – Mr Hansen, Aaron, Candice, Mr Filer and I all remember the opportunity fondly. This choir is open to all senior students who demonstrate great attitudes and strong commitment. It is not about how “beautiful” your voice is, everyone is welcome if they’re willing to do the hard work. However if your child has a beautiful voice you’d like to see on stage, please ask multiple times!
This year I will also be looking for applications for Senior Choir Leaders. This role will start out more organisational, but I hope to work with successful applicants to help run sectionals and warm ups down the track.
Applicants will need to demonstrate:
- Good communication skills
- organisational skills
- punctuality
- helpful behaviours
- be reliable and trustworthy
- Basic ICT skills
More details will be given Thursday at our rehearsal. I need to finalise who we will be coming to our rehearsal at Paring Park in Week 5 by the end of Week 4.
