Dear Families,
This week we highlight some recent happenings from two of our learning hubs: the Foundation/ Year 1 learning hub and the Year 2-4 learning hub.
On Monday 14th August saw the Year 3 classes arriving at school at 7:45am for their Long Day excursion to Monarto Safari Park and the adventure playground at Mt Barker. While at Monarto the students participated in a walking tour and a guided bus tour. The students were able to view animals up close and learn about the different habitats of the animals. After a busy day at Monarto we headed to Mt Barker to enjoy a snack and have a play at the Adventure Playground. We returned to school at 5pm, tired but extremely happy.
On Monday 26th of August, some of our Year 2-4 Learning Hub classes were invited to a free performance from a range of the senior bands from Sacred Heart Senior School. The students enjoyed the experience of seeing the older students performing. Hopefully inspiring our students to follow in their footsteps.
Our Foundation children are learning about living things, and a visit from the Teddy Bear Hospital helped them to understand how medical teams look after people’s health. Each child brought a teddy from home, and they used these to simulate procedures such as xrays, innoculations, administering a Ventolin and checking the heart and blood pressure.
Children in Foundation and Year 1 proudly shared the books they had made for Writers Week, with Mums, Dads and ‘special people’. The format of Meet the Author was short and simple with an open classroom for 20 minutes before school, and it proved highly successful.
Wow! it’s been a very busy few weeks at Brighton. There is still plenty to look forward in the last three weeks of term 3 including Foundation to Year 5 swimming, Festival of Music, National Week of Deaf People, 24 hour Pedal Prix race, Art Show, Enterprise Stalls and Sports Day.
Enjoy the weekend.
Warm Regards, Rebecca
