Weekly Wrap Up – Planning for 2023

Dear Families,

Term 4 already? Wow! How did that happen? Term 4 is shaping up to be a busy term with lots of exciting learning and community events planned including the year 4 Woodhouse camp, Sports Day, the Arts Assembly, Remembrance Day Assembly, End of Year Celebration and the Year 6 Graduation. To keep up to date with what is happening at Brighton keep an eye on our school blog.

Term 4 is off to a flying start. Our boys’ basketball team had a successful day yesterday winning all their games and got to the semi finals where they were beaten by 2 points in double over time. Congratulations, boys and thank you to Di Donaldson for coaching the team.

We have started the process of planning class structures and placements for 2023. Our class structures are dependent on the number of students we have in each year level. If your child is in Foundation – year 5 and you are intending on leaving Brighton at the end of the year, we would appreciate you informing us ASAP.  Please let us know by contacting Kim or Sarah in the front office.

We will soon begin placing children into classes  for 2023. Forming classes is a very complex process as we consider every child’s learning and social needs. Leadership and teachers use their prior knowledge of students, friendship groupings and the specific needs of your child to place them into the best possible learning environment. We also gather information from children with regard to friendships. As part of the process, parents are invited to share important information which they believe should be considered in the placement of their child/children. This is not a time to request a particular teacher but a chance to inform us of any relevant information in regards to your child’s learning, social and/or friendship needs. On Monday you will receive an email via EDSMART with more information about how parents can have input into their child’s class placement for 2023.

Aaron and I are looking forward to attending the Oliphant Science Awards Presentation tonight along with some of our year 6 students who will be recognised for their excellent learning and outstanding achievement.

Next week we are celebrating World Teachers’ Day. To show our admiration for the great work that Teachers do at Brighton we are inviting families to share a positive comment  about the difference teachers make in our community. These ‘positives’ will be shared with Teachers on Friday. Please  contribute a positive comment  by clicking on the link to the online form by Tuesday 25th October.

Enjoy the weekend.

Regards, Rebecca
