Collage meets Clay

This term the year 3/4 classes have studied the Australian artist Peter Cromer. Firstly we looked at some  Indigenous artwork and compared the Australian animals in that  artwork and  how Peter Cromer creates his Australian animals. We noticed both used lots of shapes to create the animals but the colours were a lot different .The process for the children was to choose an Australian animal, draw it in the style of Peter Cromer, collage the animal and then transfer the learning in a different format-clay.

The year 3/4 children have also just been to the zoo and it was fabulous to see the excitement when they came to art after the excursion, bursting to tell me how they had seen the animal they had chosen at the zoo. Fantastic connections and another dimension to view the creature.
