Dear Families,
Another great week of learning at BPS. Through our ‘Positive Start’ program students and staff work together to build a community of learners. In these first weeks of school students get opportunities to build relationships with peers, learn about the school values and to further develop the skills needed to be a successful learner eg. risk taking, resilience, communication, teamwork.
Parent participation at Brighton is very strong, with lots of parents generously giving their time to support the school community. Without this support we would not be able to offer all the wonderful programs for the children. This community support was evident on Monday night at the Annual General Meeting with many new people putting their hand up to join Governing Council and the sub committees. I look forward to working with the following parents who were elected on to Governing Council for 2022:
Chairperson: Simon Froude
Vice Chair: Shane Bissmire
Secretary:Constance Brett
Treasurer: Nicky Morgan
Committee Members: Tanya Bachler, Sarah Crawford, Penelope Beasley, Michael Kilmartin, Taryn Collaton, Donna Spark, Amanda Braysher, Melissa Earl, Amy Wollard, Deb Blutcher, Stuart Watson, Michael Bennet and Stuart Harper.
It’s not too late to get involved by joining a subcommittee. Please contact Jan Marie for more information.
We are always learning and on Friday our Foundation teachers spent valuable time away from their classes learning more about the Teaching and Learning of Reading. Did you know, our brain is not wired to read? that is why children can find it is tricky to learn to read and that is why the skills of reading need to be explicitly taught. Over the next three years one of our school improvement priorities is Reading so we will be sharing lots of information with you via our Blog. Stay tuned!
Communication between home and school is so important. Reminder to keep an eye on the school Blog for whole school information and on Seesaw for classroom information.
What’s on in week 5
Monday: OSHC committee meeting 6:00pm
Tuesday: Pancake Day Breakfast 8:15am in the hall
Have a great week.
Regards, Rebecca
