Pedal Prix Race 2 Adelaide Results

In the latter stages of Term 2, the Brighton Primary School Pedal Prix Team flexed their metaphorical muscles to become one of the largest and most competitive teams in the country-wide competition. With 36 students, a very excited group of spectators, and a dedicated support team, ‘Thunder’, ‘Bolt’, & ‘Lightning’ were ‘very, very frightening’ – finishing 4th, 15th, and 11th respectively from 45 competing bikes.

Despite just missing out on the elusive podium finish that our Thunder Bike has been aiming for, our teams overall success was evident. Not only were Brighton the only school to have multiple bikes finish in the top 15… we had 3! Our school team was one of the largest in the entire country, and received various accolades from the Pedal Prix governing body for the respectful, competitive, and professional nature of our riders.

This race was also the inaugural race for our newest bike – Bolt. Bolt was brilliantly ridden by our first ever group of year 5 students in their first ever competitive ride. For them to finish the race in such a competitive position of 15th is a testament to their willingness to train hard and arrive prepared to give their all. The future of our team is in very good hands!

As always, a huge thank you is needed to the entire support staff for our awesome team. The mechanics worked tirelessly to ensure that 3 bikes were race-ready and held together on the day. Our parent helpers in the pits. Our trainers. Thank you to all that make our program as successful as it is. Finally, thank you to the students who conducted themselves in a manner that made me, and no doubt their entire school community proud.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions have claimed our 3rd race of the year – Tailem Bend –  and we now look toward our final race of the year in September.

Go Thunder Bolt and Lightning!

    1. A big shout out to Lucas and all the volunteers. I didn’t realise how much work went on behind the scenes to make it all happen. The pedal prix experience has been so valuable, Finnley has absolutely loved it. Thank you so much team.

      1. We completely agree Vanessa. It is such a valuable program for our students and we certainly appreciate the work Lucas and the volunteers put in to make it happen. It is a huge commitment.
