Sports Assembly 18 Nov – Review

I am very proud to let you all know that last Wednesday morning, our Sports Captains hosted a Year 4-7 assembly on the courts.

Mack, Ella, Louis, Izzie, Bella, Felix, Robbie and Emjay (who was absent on the day :() worked hard on the script and recognised our school’s wonderful sports participants.

The assembly had further support from Oliver, Bowen, Tom (with the help of Adam) who set up sound, with Ollie and Quinn taking photos.  Thanks to Giles who interpreted, and to Chante and Jasmine for signing the anthem.

Our Sports Captains acknowledged all those who participated in; carnivals, after school sports, and district events.  They also presented special years of service medals to those students who have committed to after school sports for their time at our school (4 years Volleyball, 5 & 6 years cricket, soccer, netball, tee ball).  Lucas spoke about Pedal Prix and our aims for 2021, and Jeff spoke about our increased performance successes, as well as thanked Julie and Chantel.

The Sports Captains acknowledged that our school’s sports cannot happen without the support of our community. Volunteer coaches and managers giving their time and energy, and parents and carers who encourage these children by getting them to training, games and supporting from the sidelines.  Thank you everyone.

We gave a special acknowledgement to 2 highly valued members of our school community; Julie Crouch (Jorja and Toby’s mum) and Chantel Peacock (Macy, Lulu and Emjay’s mum).  Julie has been a huge contributor to the success of our Sports Committee of which she has been Chairperson for the past 5 years, a netball coach, her family has strong ties to pedal prix.  All of this alongside her dedication to Parents and Friends, and Learning Assistance Programs.  Chantel has created a huge spike in our track results with her dedication to our children’s health and fitness by offering Run Club each Friday morning, and by support Jeff with athletics carnivals, Ekiden relay and Cross Country.  We thank Julie and Chantel for the their amazing contribution to our children.

Finally, we held a free raffle that every student present had a ticket for.  Our students in the younger years who did not attend assembly were also entered in a raffle drawn yesterday and prizes from the raffle will come home today.  Our after school sports contacts were incredibly generous with their donations for prizes we were able to offer.  We had a signed 36’ers basketball, from the SACA a full-sized cricket bat signed by the Big Bash|07 Championship team from 2017/2018, footballs from the SANFL Tigers,  2 basketballs from Basketball SA.  Our supplier’s IDM Sports donated a cricket set, and Hughes and Loveday sent us a many prizes including a javlin, kickboard, tangle toys, teeballs, mini basketball + rugby and footy, pedometer and foam balls.    We are very grateful of the support we have from our sporting partners.

The Sports Captain’s did an incredible job of hosting this assembly.  I am in awe of their maturity, public speaking skills and presentation.  Thank you Mack, Ella, Louis, Izzie, Bella, Felix, Robbie and Emjay for attending our meetings and working as a team to achieve this goal.  Well done.
