Covid-19 Term 2 Update Number 4

As previously outlined by Adam and Christie, with the Home Learning update yesterday, we experienced some technical issues with regard to ‘logging in.’ This was a state wide issue. It appears that this is much improved today, which is very pleasing. Both Christie and Adam have worked very hard to ensure things run smoothly and the resources provided on the Online learning Page are excellent. They have ‘constructed’ an Online Learning Desk which is also excellent and is designed to assist parents with issues that may arise. Please read their post for further details and follow the protocols outlined.

Many home learning packs are still to be picked up, although this may be due to our increased attendance. If you do intend to pick your child’s pack up they are now located  in each classroom. If learning at home, it is critical that students engage with the learning that has been produced -many hours of hard work went into constructing the ‘at home learning’ package and student engagement is expected.

As predicted, enrolments have been higher than our survey indicated to us late last term. I will continue to update our community re attendances later this week.

Attendances for the first two days are:      Monday     500 students     69%

Tuesday    561 students     77%

  1. Dear Andrew and Andrea,

Thanks for giving words to my thoughts, kids have been through such difficult times lately. Adjusting to new norms without any preparation and accepting a world so different to the one they are used to!
    They are heroes!!

    Thanks Ian,
Your timely communication and compassion for the needs of parents and children has been inspiring,

    1. Thanks Reena-as I have said previously I think we have done very well as a staff, as a school.

  3. Thank you Ian for your exhausting, thorough information and the amazing praparation you and all teachers and staff must have done to allow our kids to have an enjoyable learning experience at home. It is hard for them. Wven harder, emotionally, than we think.
On this note, we thought Ian that it is much worth to share the following with you and anybody you feel it is, worth to share it with. It was sent ti us by Laura’s former school Britannica:-

    “Shout out to the KIDS.
Everyone is applauding everyone but our children. These little heroes have stayed indoors more than they’ve ever known in their lives. Their whole worlds have literally been turned upside down. All these rules they’ve never known. A life they couldn’t have imagined. All the things they love like sports, being with friends, worrylessly going to school, or just being kids as they’ve always been were taken away from them. Adults talking about others becoming unwell, news reporting death after death. Our poor children’s mind must be racing. Every day they get up and carry on despite all the things that’s going on, and hear the uncertainty of time – for how long before they can be, again, carefree kids as they should be. So here is to our little children:- you are our Heroes, today, tomorrow, forever.”

    Thanks Ian,
    Andrew & Andrea

    1. Thank you Andrew and Andrea-you are spot on with your comment regarding our students. They are the heroes for sure. We are very mindful of student wellbeing here at school and I have asked all staff to ensure that there is a wellbeing component to their teaching and learning programme each week. Another thing I have come to know after 40 plus years of teaching is that our students are incredibly resilient!
