Covid 19-TERM 2 Update 1 Home Pack Pick Up : Term 2 Start

With regard to take home packs for students who will learning at home, we ask that parents come to school on Friday 24 April to pick up your child’s / children’s take home pack/s.  All packs will be located in the hall, clearly marked with your child’s name and class number/teacher. Enter the hall from the main entrance and exit from the western doorway. Please practice, as you do when shopping, physical distancing. Only attend if your child will be involved in ‘at home’ learning next term.

The Hall will be open from 8am until 10am and from 2pm until 4pm. Members of the leadership team will help distribute packs. If unable to come at these times, ask a friend to pick up your child’s pack or phone the school for further information. Adhering to these times will make our task simpler.

As I have said consistently with all my posts on our Blog, Brighton Primary School respects each parent’s decision , whether supporting your child to  learn at home or to attend school. Advice given by Professor Nicola Spurrier , (Chief Public Health Officer for SA Health), is the advice that Premier Steven Marshall, Minister John Gardner and CE of DfE,  Rick Persse are taking-which I will follow. The decision to send your child/children to school or learn at home is a parent’s decision. If you have changed your mind since undertaking our ‘Term 2 Attendance Intentions’ survey late last term, please update your child’s teacher (via SeeSaw) so they can be prepared in advanced.

  1. Hi Ian,
Will the kids at school be taught face to face as usual? Or will they be learning online whether they’re at home or at school?
    Thanks
    Maeve

    1. What we are striving to do Maeve is to present an ‘at school’ learning environment that is matched by an ‘at home’ learning environment. Students at school will be taught F2F as usual and depending on the year level your child/children are in, learning online varies. For instance-all our year 7 students have successfully trialled Office 365 ‘Teams’ in the last week of term 1 and will continue this approach this term. In our junior classes, ‘at home’ learning will require adult supervision and support, with minimal use of video through Teams. ALL learning, for all year levels, will be posted on SeeSaw regularly.

  2. Hi Ian,
Given the current COVID-19 bettering situation, we would like our daughter toreturn to school mid May, as we estimate it.
School environment is essential for kids for development of their social skills and fostering friendships and as Mr Marshall stated yesterday schools are now considered to be safe.
Please let us know if this is acceptable from the school’s perspective and what shall we do before she returns.
Thank you in advance, all the best and safe days.
    Rgds, Andrew
