EXTERNAL SCHOOL REVIEW

Every three years, all schools in South Australia, participate in an External School Review. The review is a comprehensive overview of the school’s operations with a huge focus on student learning, student achievement and whole school planning. The review will be managed over 3 days next week-Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. All teaching staff and school based ancillary staff will be interviewed in small groups, as will a number of parents. I have been asked to provide a 45 minute overview of student progress and whole school planning at Brighton, the leadership team will also be interviewed, as will staff from our CDE. Class observations will take place in all classes across the school-it is very comprehensive indeed. As part of this process the Review team wishes to speak to students in year 3-7 about their writing-a sample shared that they are proud of. Students will meet in groups of 8 in a very informal and conversational manner, with one member of the Review team. It is not designed to be anything other than information gathering for the Review team, as writing has been our huge focus for us here at Brighton, last year and this year.  I have asked class teachers to select two students from their class who would be willing to share their writing. If there is any parent who does not wish their child to be involved please contact Kim Lauwrens at school on 8296 3614.

Following the Review, the school will receive a comprehensive report, which amongst other things will include three Directions, defining our whole school agenda for the near future. This will of course align with our current Site Improvement Plan. Once I receive this feedback, I will share with our Governing Council and our wider school community.
