ConnectEd@BrightonPS – An Update

Hello Families and Extended Community,

I thought it prudent to welcome any new members to our blog and advise them on its intentions and capabilities as well as a potential refresher for our existing members.

This blog is is our whole of school communication tool.  There will be regular posts of information, but not always daily.  We have bulk uploaded email addresses for our families that we have, but further subscriptions are welcomed and encouraged.

By subscribing, you will receive an email entitled “[ConnectEd@BrightonPS] Once Daily Digest Email” on any evening where there has been new information posted to the blog in the past 24 hours.  This email will contain a brief summary of the new content and links to read all of the information.  Please be aware that due to the bulk nature of these emails, they do sometimes land in your junk or spam folders.

However, you do not need to wait for this email to arrive to see the current information.  You can come to the site any time you like, and we encourage you to do so.

This site is mobile device friendly, and, on your first visit to this site on a mobile device it will ask you if you want to create a shortcut on your home screen.  Again, we encourage this.  It will make it look like an “app” on your device.  You can now click/tap this anytime and see the latest information.

Page Layout and Operation

The front page will always show you the latest 16 articles in reverse chronological order.  You can navigate through pages to go back to older articles.

Depending on the device you are viewing this information, the layout of the screen will vary, but near the top is the main menu with shortcuts to some of the key categories of the information which will then filter the “tiles” of information to relevant categories.  There is also a search box allowing you to search for information.

On the right on larger devices, or towards the bottom on smaller devices is the “sidebar”.  In here you will see links to other common information, the subscribe option for new users, our calendar and other filtering options to change how you view the information.

The calendar tool allows you to setup a synchronisation with your mobile device’s calendar so you can see our events alongside your own in one view.

In summary, we believe this blog to be a very valuable tool in keeping us together as a community and encourage you to subscribe and visit reguarly.

  1. Thank you Adam – your efforts with Improving and maintaining the BPS blog are very much appreciated. Can I please encourage the administrators of the blog to publish comments from parents/caregivers in response to posts as this is likely to promote a sense of community and give parents and caregivers a voice – plus any questions that arise can be addressed.

    1. HI Liz,
Thank you for your kind comments.
We are trying to keep up with the comments on the blog and reply as much as possible. I must confess there are not as many comments as I thought there might be. I encourage everyone to utilise this feature as appropriate.
      Adam
