Playground Update

As you may have seen, construction on our new playground has begun with the demolition of a few old pieces of equipment (old flying fox, broken climbing bars and the old fort). The fort will be replaced with a new fort, but the blue and yellow equipment is gone. The tunnels and rocks have been removed to be used in a new climbing network and the rocks will be reused as climbing rocks through the playground area.

You would also notice that the monkey bars have been removed. They are not leaving, but merely being repaired and repositioned so there is more space to use them.

So far many classes have been interested in the works happening and we have had no problems to slow us down. We are having weekly site meetings with the construction and design team to ensure progression continues and hope it will be ready for celebration night.

  1. I agree with Deb above. Are there alternative activities organised for the younger kids during break times while the playground is out of action? It’s a pity it couldn’t have been done during xmas holiday break.

    1. A great idea Deb, at this stage we have not organized anything formal, but I will pitch this to staff through Sentral. At present students have really been enjoying watching the progress and the machinery in operation.

    2. Just to add to my update and inform the community, it would have been ideal to get this done over a holiday break, but these companies shut down over Christmas and because of the size of the project it was always going to be a long lead time to completion. I know we are very lucky to have been gifted this grant and the end product will be a great one for all students, parents, teachers and community members. These things unfortunately take time and require many hurdles to be jumped to ensure they are safe and meet standards.

  2. Hi Jamie,
Do you have any drawings/plans of what the new playground will look like? If so, could you possibly post them here?
    Cheers, Andrew
